Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
