One extended journey circling the Land Down Under has been cancelled in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a break. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned after some time after the ship staff became aware the passenger was not present.

A major rescue mission found her person the next day.

Officials are examining the event, together with investigators and the official investigator.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that guests and crew on the ship were notified that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier technical problems".

Via official communication, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Commander" banning any further travelers from entering the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the liner in the port city upon its arrival.

The liner initially left the coastal city on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's demise. The tropical location was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Passengers on board - who typically pay large sums of dollars to participate in the voyage - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the option of walking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Reaction

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her family was "surprised and grieved that the liner left Lizard Island after an organised tour without my mum".

In her statement, she portrayed her mother as an "active elderly person" who was a affiliate of a bushwalking organization.

"According to scant details we have been informed, it appears that there was a failure of responsibility and common sense," she said.

She continued that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have undertaken that might have protected Mum's existence".

"Based on information from the investigators that it was a very hot afternoon, and mother took sick on the uphill trek," she explained.

"They requested her to head down, unescorted. Then the vessel departed, apparently without conducting a passenger count.

"During some point in that sequence, or soon after, she died, without company."

Company Reaction

In a statement, the Head verified that the operator was "cooperating fully with investigators to aid their inquiry".

He stated that the firm was "very regretful that this has happened" and had provided its complete assistance to the loved ones.

Maritime Business Practices

The vessel caters for up to one hundred twenty passengers with nearly fifty crew, according to corporate details. It was specially constructed to reach remote areas of the nation's coast and is fitted with "tenders" - minor craft used to take travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences like this are rare, and passenger vessels have systems to document which passengers are getting on or leaving, according to travel authorities.

"Leaving covertly or [back] on the ship just isn't an possibility," an authority remarked.

Vessel operators regard these processes extremely carefully and have "sophisticated systems in place to prevent such occurrences from occurring," the authority added.

"This seems to be most likely a surprising - and sad - isolated incident."
